Ai Ling (name changed) runs a tea and gift shop in a Kuala Lumpur shophouse row. Good product, good reviews, and a pattern that wore her down: heavy footfall, light baskets. People came in, circled once, and left. By closing time she was more drained than a twelve-hour day explained.
One look at the aerial view says most of it: her shop stands at the head of a T-junction. The incoming road runs dead straight at her front door.
What the assessment showed
The road is a poison arrow. In classical terms, qi moving fast and straight becomes sha qi — cutting energy. A door that receives it takes the force of everything the road carries: noise, headlights, rushing momentum. Customers arrive agitated without knowing why; staff stationed near the door tire first. The till faced East — her Jue Ming. Ai Ling, born 1983, is Kua 7, West group: Sheng Qi Northwest, Tian Yi Southwest, Yan Nian Northeast, Fu Wei West. The classical remedy sequence: block, slow, redirect
Straight-line sha is never fought with decoration. The order is structural:
- Deflect at the boundary. A bagua convex mirror above the lintel, outside only — its role is to turn the arrow, and it never hangs indoors. A pair of guardian fu dogs flanking the entrance gives the threshold weight.
- Slow the qi before it enters. A curved entry path made of two heavy planters — qi that must bend cannot cut. Inside, a half-screen breaks the straight line from door to till so the shop's own qi can pool instead of being flushed through.
- Turn the person. The counter was rotated so Ai Ling faces Northwest — her Sheng Qi — while working, with the Personal Wealth Direction confirming the money corner for the new register position. The door stays where it is; doors are expensive, chairs are free.
What changed
The drained-by-evening feeling went first — she noticed it before the month was out, and whether one credits the redirected sha or a workstation that no longer faced oncoming headlights, the texts and common sense are again in agreement. Average basket size crept up after the screen went in; browsing became lingering. No miracle numbers, and none are claimed: the shop stopped standing in the road's way, and started standing in its own.
